Originally from California, having grown up in the central San Joaquin Valley, Gretchen spent the last 45 years in Southern California where her career in the Real Estate Industry began. Gretchen was a Realtor in Southern California from 1975 to 2004. Also during this time, she worked as a Systems Analyst, designing computer programs for the Mortgage Industry, flying throughout the continental U.S. setting up computer systems for banks and lenders, training the end users and writing “how-to-use” manuals. She also made a significant contribution to the calculations of the Reg-Z and other loan processing forms now in use today. In 1985 she began her appraising career as an apprentice with Grubb & Ellis in downtown Los Angeles. She eventually progressed to Senior Appraiser with a firm in Riverside, California where she was awarded the highest ever paid production bonus. Eventually she branched out on her own with “Appraisal Research Company”. When licensing became mandatory, she obtained her Certified General Appraisal License.
