For over twenty years, the Arizona School of Real Estate & Business hosts a monthly, signature seminar in which hundreds of real estate and business professionals gather to receive the latest in market trends, resources, statistical updates and insights on a particular topic. In May of this year, our seminar focused on how those working in residential real estate can best serve their sellers and ultimately produce ready, willing and able buyers for their listings. One of the questions addressed during the seminar was what exactly do sellers expect of their listing agent? A national survey was conducted involving hundreds of home sellers who were asked; “What do you expect your agent to know and provide?” Listed below are the top fifteen most common answers:

  1. Show me the sold prices for similar properties.
  2. Suggest the best pricing strategy.
  3. Demonstrate your plan of action.
  4. Protect my privacy.
  5. How will you attract buyers?
  6. Keep me informed.
  7. Do what you say you’re going to do.
  8. Keep my best interests at heart.
  9. Be creative.
  10. Be a good negotiator.
  11. Should we make a counteroffer?
  12. Stay in contact.
  13. Keep the paperwork to a minimum.
  14. No surprises, please.
  15. When can we expect a check?

Meeting and exceeding the expectations of your client is the key component to success in any business. Keeping the above list of seller expectations top-of-mind will likely produce what we dearly value as real estate practitioners – repeat and referral business.

Our next signature seminar is scheduled on Friday, August 28th from 9:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. featuring our annual Commercial Real Estate Summit. Leaders in the Phoenix metro commercial industry will gather to share their perspectives and insights for today’s market as well as identify commercial growth opportunities and development within Arizona.
