Why did you choose a career to form a residential real estate team?
Kirsten and I didn’t start out in real estate with the idea of building a team; we started our real estate team as a natural process. Once we joined together to sell real estate we began to receive more leads. That’s when we hired our first transaction manager to help us with the paperwork aspect of selling real estate. Once we were freed up from the paperwork, it allowed us to generate more leads which required an additional buyer’s agent to assist us with taking care of those buyers. More buyers lead to more listings over time which required that we hire a listing agent to assist us with the increase in listings. When the market crashed, we began taking on REOs from various banks which led to receiving even more buyer leads. That’s when we hired our second buyer’s agent. Today, we are a small six person family team.

What are your top 3 ingredients for success as it relates to your field?

  1. Treat real estate as a career and show up.
  2. Lead generation and conversion.
  3. Continual education to stay on top of changes in the industry.

What is your philosophy on community service and your favorite local cause – and why?
We were taught as children that we should give back to the community in which we live as much as we could. We have been givers from childhood. Real estate has just given us the ability to give even more as adults. Our favorite local cause is The Salvation Army.

In what ways would you suggest someone give back to the real estate industry?
Become active in your local Association/Board.
Become active in the Arizona Association of REALTORS®.
Mentor a newer agent or teach a class.
Give to charities that assist REALTORS® experiencing crisis or catastrophe.

What is your most memorable Arizona news story/headline and why?
“Arizona Gives Day” (Apr. 2015) It was a reminder for people to give to organizations that are making an impact on our local communities. This was memorable to us because we were unaware that this day even existed, and it reminded us of our obligation as well as our duty as citizens of Arizona to help those in need.
