Lamont Bawden Bio:

Lamont recently retired after an exciting 40-year career in real estate, which included management of over 28,000 apartment units covering 15 markets across 10 states, 6,000 units of manufactured housing in 8 markets, 3 million sq. ft. of shopping centers, 2 million sq. ft. of office buildings plus brokering apartment complexes totaling $200,000,000. He obtained his B.A. degree from the University of Utah in 1969. After teaching school for one year, Lamont joined the Air Force as a pilot and officer. He obtained his real estate license in 1975 and became a broker two years later. Lamont currently holds real estate brokers licenses in 6 states. He served on the Board of Directors of the Arizona Multi-housing Association for 14 years and is a member of the Institute of Real Estate Management, where he holds a Certified Property Manager designation.

He has taught at ASREB for over 17 years, and has become a very active instructor over the past three years teaching several types of classes from continuing education to broker licensing. Students comment that Lamont’s knowledge of history and stories of his own property management experiences make fair housing classes more interesting.  Also, when teaching environmental law, he shares a picture he took at 60,000 feet when he was a pilot that students think is amazing. The picture shows just how much the ozone layer protects the earth because the sky becomes breathtakingly blue at that altitude. Teaching and helping students receive and renew real estate licenses brings him great joy and satisfaction.

He has been married to his wife, Louisa, for 51 years. They have 3 children, 9 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. Between teaching, his family, and serving as choir director at his church, he stays happily busy.
