Instructor Highlight: Suzy Lieber

Suzy Lieber, REALTOR® DREI GSI
EXP Realty

“I grew up with 14,000-foot mountain peaks around me, the Rocky Mountains, in Colorado. I’ve been climbing mountains since childhood. I learned at an early age… life is filled with information and knowledge, and I set out on a path to become a better person, conscientious worker and always an educator.”

When it comes to longevity and professionalism in the real estate industry, Suzy is at the top of the list for making shifts, pivots and lifting herself up out of gaps during real estate busts and embracing successes during real estate booms. She started her real estate career at the age of 19; and began working in and around World-Renowned Ski Resorts in Colorado, with the goal of saving money to pay for college. For years, Real Estate Brokers exposed her to high end luxury resort residential sales, resort property management, land, and ranch transactions as well as general real estate activities. She sold fractional ownership timeshare properties and was trained as a ‘Master Closer’ by her Broker, President of the Resort Condominiums International [RCI), one of the largest timeshare vacation exchange groups in the world.

Suzy’s active Arizona Brokers real estate license is with EXP Realty. She has served as a committee member of the Scottsdale Area Association of REALTORS® RAPAC committee and as a committee member of the Arizona Association of REALTOR® – REALTORS® Issues Mobilization Committee [RIMC).

Along her pursuit to climb to the highest achievements, Suzy has served as a Chapter President for Kappa Delta Pi International Honor Society in Education, as a Rho Delta Chapter President, and a member of Kappa Beta Delta and Phi Delta Kappa. She is an academic scholar with master’s and bachelor’s degrees. Suzy has been an appointed and publicly elected in political arenas and was a candidate for the Arizona State House of Representatives in 2016. She has a passion for politics and goals to become a lobbyist.

Suzy believes whole-heartedly in the importance of being a lifelong learner. She also strongly believes it is her time to give back to the community that supported her growth throughout the years and help build the next generation of real estate agents. She is a Certified Arizona Department of Education Teacher in Adult Learning.

Inspired by family members, who were educators before her, she became a Certified Arizona Department of Real Estate Instructor setting up a real estate program of study for licensure at Mohave Community College in Western Arizona. Suzy attended the Arizona School of Real Estate and Business as a student and teaches continuing education classes at campus locations and online for the Colibri Group.

“As an instructor, sharing firsthand experiences allows the students to actively engage, which usually results in smiles, laughter, sharing funny to horror stories, camaraderie, and friendship. My stories help students feel prepared and comfortable working in the industry.”

But her climb to the top never slows down. In 2020, Suzy earned the Gold Standard Instructor “GSI” designation through the Real Estate Educators Association [REEA], which is designed to enhance instructor delivery and improve student online learning.

Suzy honorably earned the Distinguished Real Estate Instructor (DREI] designation with the Real Estate Educators Association [REEA). The designation sets a standard for excellence in real estate classroom instruction. Through all her higher education achievements, and numerous trainings through REEA, local and state real estate board workshops, she exhibits mastery of subject matter, proven presentation ability, relevant experience, and superior teaching skills. She continues her trek in preparation of becoming a National Association of REALTORS® Instructor of REALTOR® designation courses.

Suzy is a Blue Star Mother of America, Inc. Her son-in-law is a Lieutenant Colonel in the USAF Reserve and her daughter served as a Commissioned Officer in the USAF. She is a Shriner, an Officer in the Ladies Oriental Shrine of North America [LOSNA). She enjoys spending time with her three grandchildren, traveling to ‘see as much art as humanly possible’, and attending time-out women’s retreats. She serves as Vice-President for the North Valley Symphony Orchestra in Phoenix, Arizona.

“I’m a mountaineer…I attain or attempt to attain, high points, for the pleasure of the climb. Climbing can be hard, but it’s the most rewarding thing I have ever done. It takes me to places of incredible beauty, and it challenges me to find untapped reserves of strength and resourcefulness. It’s also fun.”
Suzy supports REALTORS® to rise to the challenge. “Join the climb…the summit is what drives me, but the climb is what matters…keep climbing. It is a harder process, but it leads you to a better view.”
