February 2019 – Letter From the Publisher

Nate Hoelzen
President, Arizona Journal of Real Estate & Business

Dear Readers,

I hope you all enjoyed a successful first month of 2019. If you’re still studying up from our last issue of the Journal about tax lien auctions held in February, I wish you all the best come auction day. I also encourage you to utilize your network and resources at Arizona School of Real Estate and Business to ensure you know what to expect from the auction experience. As we move on to this month’s issue of the Journal, we will look at advertising in real estate and the unique rules that surround it.

You may be less familiar with this if you’re new to the field, but there are specific rules and guidelines set aside for real estate agents who wish to advertise their services. For example, did you know that in an instance where a licensee advertises a property that is the subject of another licensee’s real estate employment agreement, the first licensee must display the name of the listing broker in a clear and prominent manner? Some of these rules seem straight-forward while others might seem less obvious. Regardless, it’s important to know these rules because there are legal penalties for those who do not follow the real estate advertising guidelines.

In addition to understanding the rules set aside for real estate promotion, it’s also crucial to have a good grasp on your advertising strategy. What will be your primary and secondary methods of reaching new potential clients? Will you use handouts or direct mail? Social media is another powerful tool that can be your best friend, but just as easily be your foe if you’re uninformed or ill-prepared for how to handle connecting with people via technology.

The great news is, this issue of the Journal is filled with articles from experts in the industry who will help you successfully navigate the world of advertising in real estate. Whether you’re a new agent just starting out, or a seasoned veteran looking to ensure you’re checking all the boxes, Arizona School of Real Estate and Business is here to help you achieve your goals.

I hope you’ll consider joining us for our February Seminar, “Advertising: The Rules and Social Media,” on Friday, February 15th at our Scottsdale campus. Our seminar series not only provides the opportunity to learn from experienced industry professionals, but it also gives you a better chance at growing your network to develop prosperous professional relationships that will benefit you greatly in the long-run.
