By Jaya Brower, ASREB Alum

I started about a year ago in spiritual counseling and alternative healing. An acquaintance told me that she was pursuing real estate. People entered my life again and again, saying, “Oh, I'm doing real estate.” It was happening enough that I realized I should look into it, too.

My Experience with ASREB

I started looking at classes online and chose the Arizona School of Real Estate and Business (ASREB) because of the pass or don’t pay guarantee. Also, 75 percent of those who study with them pass the real estate exam—the statistics show that ASREB is a better school.

Overall, I had a good experience with ASREB and am happy with the school. I chose a combination of online and livestream (live, online learning). As a working businesswoman and a single mom, I couldn't make all the livestream classes. ASREB also made the online version available for me, which I appreciated.

I had several different teachers for my livestream class, and they were always helpful, well-prepared, and knew the material. They shared helpful, real-world examples to explain complicated concepts.

ASREB also has a dedicated Ask an Instructor email, which is helpful for people who do not like to ask questions out loud. (Not me! I ask lots of questions!) I called the helpline a few times, and they were really good at answering the phone and sending what I needed. Even the people in the center were very helpful. I went in person to pick up the book, and I could feel the energy and tell they were nice people.

The course material was not what I expected. I was expecting material on selling a property—like how to put an open house together. Instead, the courses were about the legal aspects of buying and selling real estate. I didn't know so many things could go wrong during the process. ASREB did a very good job explaining the material, which helped me pass the exam.

Preparing for the Real Estate Exam

ASREB provided chapter quizzes and section challenge quizzes, and the premium package included vocabulary, grammar, and math review material if you need help with those. They also had a practice exam in the back of the book, which we did in class. All of it helped.

I took the test five days after finishing the class. I knew I would pass the real estate exam because ASREB’s material prepared me for the test, and I studied well. I passed with a 92 percent. I had heard that not many people make it on the first try. The instructor was impressed and told me to take the state exam right away.

Advice for Future Real Estate Students

Here’s my advice to future real estate agents.

Don’t take the job lightly. Signing a contract to buy or sell a house is a big deal, and people want to know they're making a good decision.

Next, study and do your best. I had a dedicated space for my coursework – where I could be in the zone.

Finally, when choosing a learning partner and solution, do your homework. It’s important to know the statistics of the schools you’re considering. Another reason I like ASREB is that you can learn online, via live stream, or in person. And I would say to always get the premium package. The no-pass guarantee is great, right? Even if you have confidence in yourself, it's always a good backup to have that option.

Stepping Into A New Career

I love talking to people. I love meeting people. I love listening to their stories and giving them my best. I was guided to real estate.

I also come from the heart. That's the only way I operate, and that's what I bring to the table. I know I will be able to understand the energy of the house and the energy of the people and bring a little intuition to this process. We know it is there; we just don't talk about it, you know? I'm hoping to use some of my spiritual development, intuition, and energy to attract the right people, bring them to the right home, and help make them feel like it's theirs.

I would be lying if I said I had this dream of a six-figure salary. For me, this came from within, and I decided to give it a try. I'm going to do this, have some fun with it, and see where it takes me.
