How can I be sure a career in real estate is for me?
Real estate is, above all else, a customer service business. You will be involved in what will be one of the biggest purchases/sales in someone’s life. We would encourage you to sit down and review your career objectives and what you want to get from your career. Discuss those issues and goals with someone who knows firsthand what the industry is like and then make your decision. See our Career Event section for more details.
How old must you be to obtain a real estate license in Arizona?
You must be 18 to be able to take the state licensing exam and become licensed at Arizona Department of Real Estate, however you may take the 90 hour course and school exam before you turn 18.
Do I need a high school diploma or college degree?
No, there are no education prerequisites to be licensed in real estate. Our students come from all different education levels and we design our curriculum so that it connects with everyone. For more information on Arizona laws and regulations, please visit www.azre.gov.
Is working part-time in the real estate industry possible?
That is a question that is best answered by your broker. The answer to that question may also vary depending on the company. So, if this is important to you, be sure to ask before you commit to a broker.
What areas of real estate can I work in once I am licensed?
Here is a list of potential employment options once you are licensed: Residential Real Estate Salesperson, Commercial Real Estate Salesperson, Real Estate Property Manager, Leasing Agent, Real Estate Transaction Coordinator, Real Estate Assistant, Showing Assistant, Real Estate Investor or Entrepreneur, Real Estate Developer, and after 3 years of actively using your license, a Real Estate Broker.
Do you help with employment opportunities?
Yes! We offer monthly Virtual Career Expo events for the Tucson and Phoenix areas via ZOOM webinar to all real estate students currently enrolled in classes. Join us for a chance to meet with hiring real estate brokers!

Class Offering Questions

How do I know which real estate school is right for me?
How do you decide which school makes sense for you? We’re glad you asked. Choosing the real estate school that best fits your goals is critical to career success. For that reason, we’re here to arm you with the best information possible so you can make the right decision the first time! Check out our real estate school comparison page to see how we measure up to other schools.
How long will it take me to complete the course?
The pre-licensing course is 90 hours and you must also attend a 6 hour Introduction to Contract Writing course. The time it takes to complete the course will vary depending on what schedule or format you choose. Take a look at the livestream / classroom tab to see our schedule offerings. Keep in mind that you have 6-months to complete your 90 hour course but if you need more time we do have extension options available.
How long will it take me to get licensed?
We offer several flexible options where you can complete the program as quickly as 9 days or spread it out over 6 weeks. With self-paced online or daytime, afternoon, evening and weekend livestream classes you are sure to find something that will work for you! Once you have completed your courses you will still need to obtain your fingerprint clearance card, pass the school and state exams, and take the Introduction to Contract Writing course before applying for your license.
What is the cost of the course?
The base cost of the salesperson pre-license course is $699.00. We also offer packages that include additional tools for studying and exam preparation.
We have partnered with Klarna so that you can shop now and pay over time. Learn more about Klarna.
What classroom scheduling options do you offer and how flexible is my schedule?
It is a priority for us to make scheduling convenient for you. We offer more scheduling options than any other school in Arizona. Our unique schedule allows you to complete the courses in as little as two weeks. We offer courses on weekdays, weekends, and evenings. With many campuses to choose from, the Arizona School of Real Estate & Business offers you many options. A career specialist will work with you to ensure that you properly schedule your courses so you can attend every session.
What is the difference between online and Livestream learning?
Our online learning format is “self-paced,” meaning you can take courses on your own time, at your own pace. Livestream learning is instructor-led in real-time via Zoom.
Are there any similarities between online and Livestream learning?
Yes! Both online and Livestream learning feature our expert-developed course material that you can take from the comfort of your own home.
What are the benefits of the online learning format?
With our self-paced online learning format, you’ll go at your own speed through the courses. You’re not on a set schedule, so you can choose to take the courses anytime and anywhere with an internet connection. Our online course format features written material with recorded video of our experienced instructors mixed in to keep you engaged.
What are the benefits of Livestream learning?
Our Livestream courses are most similar to the classroom learning experience, as they are taught by an instructor via Zoom in real-time. It’s a great option for students who benefit from an interactive instructor experience. With Livestream learning, you’ll attend class virtually with other students at scheduled times, just like you would in the classroom!
Can I do a combination of livestream and online classes?
At this time ADRE requires that you have 100% attendance in one format, as a hybrid option has not been approved.
How do I know which learning format works best for me?
When making the decision between online and Livestream learning, it’s important to think about your learning style and schedule. If you need the flexibility of learning when and where you want, our online option is the format for you – if you find that you learn better from an interactive instructor and have the time in your schedule to attend class, Livestream learning is for you.
Is there a lot of work (homework) outside the classes?
We understand that if you are in class all day, studying in the evening after classes is not always possible. Our instructors do a great job at highlighting the most important information in class. However, reviewing, reading, and studying after hours helps to better prepare you for passing the state exam the very first time.
I have not been in school for years. Am I going to be able to handle this?
Of course you are! Everyone in that room has the same feelings as you do… you are not alone! Our instructors do a great job at making the material easy to understand. In addition, our schedule makes it easy for you to fit the courses into your busy life. We understand that you have a lot of things happening in your life and we make it easy for you to accomplish your career goals at a pace that is comfortable for you.
How much does my School Exam cost?
Your School Exam is included with the price of your course.

Check out our Schedule your Exam page for more details.

What if I fail my exam?
You can take the school exam as many times as you need within 6 months of purchasing your course. We are here to help you succeed and have many options to help you along your way to becoming a great real estate agent. Click here to view our exam prep products.
How many classes can I take in one day?
The Arizona Department of Real Estate limits students to two sessions (10 hours) per day. For more information on Arizona laws and regulations, visit www.azre.gov.
If I am licensed in another state, do I have to take all the classes?

In 2019 Governor Doug Ducey signing HB 2569: “Occupational Licensing; Reciprocity” into law. This allows out of state licensees to waive their 90 hours of education requirement but other requirements must be met.

Individuals seeing licensure through Out-of-State License Recognition must:

  • Be an Arizona resident
  • Currently licensed in another state for at least one year
  • Have completed approved real estate education in the other state
  • Passed a real estate license examination in another state
  • An applicant has not had a license or certificate revoked or voluntarily surrendered in any other state or country.
  • An applicant has not had any discipline imposed by another regulating entity, and has no pending complaint, allegation, or investigation.
